FADU proposes 50 euro fund per student to finance university sports

The Academic Federation of University Sports (FADU) proposes the creation of a 50 euro fund per student to finance university sports in Portugal. The federation argues that this amount would be a way to guarantee dedicated financial resources for the promotion of physical activity and sports in higher education.

The proposal comes following a diagnostic study on higher education published by FADU Portugal at the beginning of this year. This study analyzed the situation of higher education institutions regarding the conditions for sports practice.

According to the data presented by FADU Portugal, 61% of higher education institutions do not have their own sports facilities. This lack of dedicated infrastructure constitutes one of the main barriers to the development of university sports in the country.
