Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka defeated Czech Linda Noskova in three sets in the US Open quarterfinals, securing her place in the tournament semifinals. The encounter was closely contested, with Sabalenka managing to save herself in the decisive tie-break.
The victory allows the Belarusian to stay just two wins away from winning the US Open title, which would represent her third Grand Slam. Sabalenka already has two Australian Open victories on her resume.
Linda Noskova, the young Czech opponent, was eliminated at this quarterfinal stage after an intense three-set duel against the tournament's seeded player.
With this result, Sabalenka continues her march toward the title at Flushing Meadows, remaining one of the main candidates for the final victory.
