PS (Socialist Party) announced that it will impose four conditions on the AD Government (PSD/CDS-PP coalition) to make the State Budget for 2027 viable, in order to guarantee the country's political stability. The announcement was made by the PS Secretary-General, José Luís Carneiro, during a visit to the Harvest Festivals in Palmela, in the district of Setúbal.
The four conditions involve guaranteeing that there will be no constitutional changes without agreement between PS and PSD, that pensions will not be changed, clarifying the financing of planned investments in schools, hospitals, health centers and social facilities after the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and clarifying how the Government will respond to the February storms, namely regarding the support promised to companies, families and municipalities.
José Luís Carneiro added that the socialists will only analyze the State Budget proposal after a clear word from Prime Minister Luís Montenegro on these matters. The socialist leader also warned that if the Government proceeds with privatizations in health and social security with budgetary backing, PS will not make the State Budget viable.
The article also mentions that José Luís Carneiro commented on the rejection of the motion of censure presented by Chega, accusing this party of being "a party that lives off crises and mobilizing discontent." The socialist Secretary-General considered the attitude of André Ventura and Chega's deputies, who disrespected the word of the President of the Assembly of the Republic, sad, classifying it as a "claque attitude" and not that of parliamentary representatives.
