Amid the crisis, STF rules on payment of Funrural contribution by companies

oglobo9 September 2026 at 04:00

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) resumes on Wednesday the judgment of an action that discusses the rules on the social contribution of rural producers to the Rural Worker Assistance Fund (Funrural). The session takes place amid the crisis between ministers André Mendonça and Alexandre de Moraes.

The action in question addresses whether the companies that purchased agricultural and livestock products are responsible for the collection of the social contribution of rural producers. Funrural is a social security contribution that, in the case of the individual rural producer, is levied on the revenue obtained from the commercialization of their production.

The agenda was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but was postponed at the indication of the rapporteur of the case, minister Gilmar Mendes, who requested the postponement before the resumption of the judgment this week.
