The ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) meet again in a plenary session on Wednesday amid the escalation of the institutional crisis, following the removal of the Federal Police (PF) director-general, Andrei Rodrigues, ordered by Minister André Mendonça.
On Tuesday, the STF's Second Panel cancelled what would have been the first session after Rodrigues's removal. The decision to maintain the removal was submitted by Mendonça to the full court, which is presided by Luiz Fux and also includes Gilmar Mendes, Kassio Nunes Marques and Dias Toffoli.
Fux and Kassio joined Mendonça in the virtual judgment, forming a majority to uphold the rapporteur's decision. Gilmar requested a recess and interrupted the analysis, while Toffoli had not yet cast a vote.
Among the matters scheduled for judgment in Wednesday's session are tax issues, such as the incidence of PIS and Cofins on presumed ICMS credits, the collection of ITBI on real estate transfers for capitalization, and other rules.
