The National Association of Federal Police Delegates (ADPF) criticized on Tuesday the decision of Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court, to remove the corporation's director-general, Andrei Rodrigues, in a "monocratic" manner. In a note, the entity argued that the decision should be made by the full Supreme Court, and not by a single minister.
The association argued that caution is even more necessary because documents from ongoing investigations at the Court itself make reference to ministers who compose the tribunal. According to the ADPF, deliberation by the full body is essential to preserve the Court's authority, ensure due legal process and avoid acts that may be declared null.
The note highlights that the effects of any nullity would impact the investigations and the very institution that is intended to be protected. The entity had at the time 2.3 thousand Federal Police delegates.
The association also stated that the removal of the head of the corporation could only occur if tied to certain criteria, although the final section of the article about these criteria is not available.
