As expected, the motion of censure tabled by Chega was rejected in the Portuguese Parliament. The far-right party saw its initiative rejected by the majority of deputies.
The motion counted with the votes against of PSD, CDS-PP, Iniciativa Liberal, Livre and PAN. On the other hand, PS, PCP, Bloco de Esquerda and Juntos pelo Povo abstained in the vote, neither supporting the rejection nor the motion.
Only Chega's deputies voted in favour of the motion of censure. At the end of the session, they closed the proceedings with a collective appeal for the resignation of Luís Neves, a figure who was at the centre of the controversy that motivated the tabling of the motion.
