American tennis player Francis Tiafoe reached the US Open semifinals for the third time in his career, after an impressive comeback against Alex Michelsen. Tiafoe was down by two sets and a service break in the third set, with the score indicating 7-5, 6-3 and 5-3 in favor of his opponent.
The 26-year-old player managed to completely reverse the course of the match, winning the next four games to claim the third set and force the decision in the following sets. The match lasted several hours of intense competition on the hard court of Flushing Meadows.
This semifinal represents Tiafoe's third advance to this stage of the New York tournament, demonstrating his consistency in the competition. His next opponent will be the winner of the match between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, which is still being decided.
Tiafoe, currently ranked 20th in the world, is looking to reach his first Grand Slam final. His best performance in Grand Slam tournaments remains the US Open semifinal in 2022 and 2023, where he was eliminated under the same circumstances.
