The Advocacia-Geral da União asked on Tuesday the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Edson Fachin, to suspend the decision by Minister André Mendonça that preemptively removed the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, and the director of Police Intelligence of the corporation. The motion was signed by the attorney general of the Union, Jorge Messias.
The AGU argues that the measure interferes with an attributions of the president of the Republic and may harm the functioning of the Federal Police. In the filing sent to Fachin, the body states that the removal of the two executives may cause disorganization within the corporation and compromise the continuity of investigations and other activities.
The motion is another development in the crisis opened at the STF around the investigations related to Banco Master. The decision by Mendonça was made within the scope of the process that is at the center of the dispute involving the minister, members of the Federal Police and other members of the Court.
