Ireneu Cabral Barreto received with emotion the praise that was unanimously attributed to him by the Municipal Assembly of Ponta do Sol. The distinction was delivered during the solemn session commemorating the 525 years of the municipality.

The former representative of the Republic considered that the distinction represents the recognition of a career that he could never have built alone, despite not feeling entitled to it.

Barreto stated he feels "indebted" to his family, teachers, collaborators, and all the people who contributed to his path throughout life.

The praise thus recognizes the work and dedication of a prominent figure in the municipality, who expressed gratitude to all those who accompanied him.
