FC Paços de Ferreira members will vote on the removal of the club's Board at an Extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for September 22, at 8:00 PM, at the Parque de Exposições Capital do Móvel. The meeting was convened following a request submitted by a group of members, which bases the petition on the alleged loss of confidence in the club's management. If the removal is approved, the creation of a Provisional Management Committee and the possibility of early elections will be discussed.
The club is going through a period of strong internal contestation. Sportingly, the team was relegated from II Liga last season and started the new season in Liga 3 with three consecutive defeats, before earning their first point against Vianense. Elimination from the Portuguese Cup against Fafe, at home and after extra time, increased the pressure on the Board.
The crisis also extends to structural and financial issues. The operation to transform professional football with the entry of PlayMakers, approved in April by only 13 votes, was contested by members and former executives, reaching the courts through an interim injunction. The club's and SDUQ's finances were also debated at an Assembly in August, where liabilities, credits, and amounts injected for financial needs were discussed.
To participate in the vote, members need to have dues up to date and be effective members for at least two uninterrupted years. If a majority does not attend on the first call, scheduled for 8:00 PM, the meeting will be held on second call at 9:00 PM.
