Botafogo secured the signing of Hakim Ziyech as the ninth signing of the transfer window, with the Moroccan player arriving in Rio de Janeiro at 7:30 PM on Tuesday. Despite this, the black-and-white club is still looking for another name for the attack.
The intention is to sign a player who can take the starting spot on the right side of the attack, but who also has the ability to link up with other areas of the pitch. Among the names being scouted by the football department are Wilfried Zaha, former Crystal Palace; Matheus Gonçalves, former Flamengo; Fabrício Pérez, from Estudiantes-ARG; and Emiliano Gómez, from Puebla-MEX.
Wilfried Zaha was ruled out by Botafogo. The salary values of approximately 4 million euros are outside the reality of the club and Brazilian football in general. Additionally, the player's history at the English club involved off-field issues that could represent a problem for the black-and-white side.
Matheus Gonçalves, currently at Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, is a name that still interests Botafogo. The former Flamengo player remains as an option under study by the club's football department.
