Olympic gold medalist Hebert Conceição will return to the ring on September 11 to face Mexican José de Jesús Adame Chio at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California. The bout will be for the super middleweight division (up to 73kg) and is scheduled for 10 rounds. The event will be promoted by Probox, a new American organization that streams its events.
The 28-year-old Bahian boxer has 11 wins in the professional circuit, with five by knockout. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Venezuelan Johan González in April. On the other side, Chio has 15 wins, seven knockouts, and one draw, remaining undefeated in his professional career.
The Brazilian commented on the classic Mexican style of his opponent, acknowledging the traditional fighting characteristics that Chio presents. According to Conceição, these particularities may end up favoring his own strategy in the ring. The confrontation represents another important step in the Olympic champion's professional career, as he seeks to consolidate his position in the international professional boxing scene.
