The Grupo Desportivo e Cultural de Azurara officially launched the 2026/27 season at Largo da Igreja Matriz, bringing together athletes, families and club officials for the Golden Lynx awards ceremony. This distinction recognizes young players who stood out for their attitude, commitment and positive influence on the group. Vasco Romão, Santiago Guerreiro and Duarte Costa were the players honored.
Competitive action returns next weekend with the 2nd International Handball Tournament in Vila do Conde, on September 12th and 13th, at the Mindelo Sports Gymnasium. The event will feature over 300 athletes, from Under-12 to Masters, establishing itself as one of the main preparation opportunities for the new season.
In parallel, the club continues its recruitment drive for young players in the Under-12 and Under-14 categories, with training sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. GDC Azurara also offers trial sessions for those who wish to start their journey in the sport, reinforcing the importance of sports development.
The senior team is already preparing for entry into the 3rd National Division, in a season marked by returning players to the squad and renewed ambition, with the goal of reaching the final phase of the competition.
