Rats and cockroaches cost four times more in Vila Franca de Xira

The Vila Franca de Xira City Council spent four times more this year on rat and cockroach extermination actions in the municipality, compared to the previous period. By the end of July, more than 30,000 interventions had been carried out to combat rats and cockroaches in the municipal area.

The mayor of Vila Franca, Fernando Paulo Ferreira, revealed these numbers during the Municipal Council's public sessions. The issue of pest control is frequently raised by citizens at these sessions.

Citizen complaints are very frequent, especially during the summer period, when weather conditions favor the proliferation of rats and cockroaches. The municipality has thus faced a significant increase in demand for these pest control services.
