The Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay, from Napoli, was submitted on Tuesday to a cardiac ablation procedure at Spire Hospital in Manchester. The Italian club announced on its social media that the surgery was a success. The procedure aims to neutralize, through heat or cold, the few millimeters of tissue responsible for the arrhythmia.
McTominay will rest for two weeks before returning to training, according to Napoli's statement, without revealing a date for his return to competition. The player was sidelined after the second round of the Italian Championship.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder was recently elected the best player of Serie A in the 2024-2025 season. Napoli had reported last week that McTominay could return "at the end of the international break," in early October.
