According to his statements, teachers are currently limited to a role of simple executors, appearing as "taskworkers" who only apply what the educational materials industry produces and distributes.
The former rector of the University of Lisbon calls for a profound transformation of the education system, arguing that it is necessary to promote a "metamorphosis" of education, where teachers can have the freedom to do things differently and exercise their professional autonomy more independently.
