The Socialist Party (PS) decided to abstain on the motion of censure presented by Chega, in order to avoid being on the same side as PSD in the vote. This position was taken to avoid a political alliance that the party does not desire.
Luís Neves, Minister of Internal Administration, responded for four hours to deputies in Parliament. During his speech, the minister admitted the existence of "informalities" in his work, but defended the actions carried out during the six months he has been in office.
The debate in plenary on the motion of censure is now in the hands of the political parties. Chega, the party that presented the motion, has its defeat guaranteed, as the motion is not expected to gather enough support to be approved.
The Minister of Internal Administration is again at the center of political debate, with his performance and the informalities admitted being the subject of discussion by the different parties represented in Parliament.
