The Second Chamber of the Supreme Federal Court began judging, in a virtual session, the decision by Justice André Mendonça that determined the removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. The analysis of the case runs until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, and Mendonça voted to maintain his own decision. The chamber includes Justices Luiz Fux, who chairs the body, Gilmar Mendes, Dias Toffoli, and Nunes Marques.
Justice André Mendonça stated he was the target of systematic and illegal monitoring carried out by the Federal Police's intelligence division for more than a month. The magistrate listed six reports produced between August 3 and 31 with analyses of his actions and his relationship with the Attorney General, Jorge Messias.
The decision to remove Andrei Rodrigues was made based on a request from the Novo party, which requested the measure based on the intelligence documents produced by the PF that, according to Mendonça, showed the irregular monitoring of his activities.
