The Attorney General's Office (AGU) announced it will file an appeal against the decision by Justice André Mendonça of the Supreme Court, who removed the Federal Police director-general, Andrei Rodrigues.
The central argument of the AGU in the appeal will be that André Mendonça violated the exclusive competence of the president of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, by ordering the removal without adequate justification for doing so.
André Mendonça made the decision within the framework of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the Federal Police operation that arrested people close to former president Jair Bolsonaro.
It now falls to the STF itself to analyze the appeal filed by the AGU against the measure that removed the PF chief from office.
