The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) requested the postponement of the vote on the bill regarding the Cerrado zoning in Piauí. The agency issued a technical note pointing out irregularities in the process.
According to the MPF, there was a lack of consultation with indigenous peoples and traditional communities before the analysis of the project by the Legislative Assembly of Piauí. The vote was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, the 8th.
The federal agency argues that the absence of this consultation violates the constitutional rights of these populations, who are directly affected by the regulation of land use in the Cerrado region of Piauí.
With the postponement request, the vote was suspended until the consultation process with the peoples and traditional communities is properly carried out, as required by current legislation.
