The Porto City Council ordered the urgent felling of 19 trees on Avenida dos Aliados, after technical analysis identified phytosanitary and biomechanical weaknesses in the specimens. The main anomalies found included rot at the level of the branches and the collar region of the trees.
The decision comes following the fall of a tree in the same area in August, which resulted in three injured. The incident prompted a more thorough assessment of the phytosanitary condition of the trees on Avenida dos Aliados, one of the main arteries of the city.
The municipality proceeded with the felling as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of residents and visitors, taking into account the risks identified by the technical analysis of the affected trees.
