The Chega party accused Luís Neves of managing the Ministry with a lack of common sense, comparing his conduct to the way he managed the Judicial Police. The accusation comes in the wake of statements made by the government official during a visit to Madeira on the occasion of the PSP's anniversary.
During that visit, Luís Neves allegedly admitted in a manner deemed "frivolous and uncommitted" that he cannot fill the open positions within the department he leads. The party emphasizes that this situation demonstrates deficient management of the Ministry.
Additionally, Chega states that there are many police officers retained in active service who cannot exercise their right to pre-retirement. This situation was also acknowledged by Luís Neves himself during the same visit to Madeira, which compounded the party's criticism.
