Miguel Albuquerque, president of the Regional Government of Madeira, came to the defense of the Republic's Government led by Luís Montenegro, at a time when a motion of censure is being discussed in parliament. Albuquerque considered that there is a growing difference between the "political country" and the "real country," arguing that the country's reality does not correspond to what is transmitted by the public debate.
For the Madeiran leader, the national debate is currently dominated by a "constant noise" that does not reflect Portugal's economic and social situation. "Every day it seems like the country is in a tremendous crisis, but the country is not in crisis," said Albuquerque, pointing to economic growth as an indicator that the situation is more positive than the political narrative suggests.
