Less than 24 hours after an Amazon Prime Air cargo flight veered off the runway and crashed while landing at Miami International Airport, local authorities were still trying to determine the cause of the incident on Monday. Amazon Prime Air Flight 7598 left the runway's diagonal shortly before 2 PM, local time (3 PM in Brasília time), and struck several vehicles on the ground.
The accident left at least five dead and several injured. According to the chief of the Miami-Dade Fire Department, Ray Jadallah, five people were injured, three of them in serious condition. At least two people were trapped in vehicles struck by the aircraft, and the pilot and co-pilot were also trapped.
The aircraft's black box was recovered and sent for analysis to aid in the investigation into the causes of the accident. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the incident, which is under investigation.
