The state of Mato Grosso do Sul faces a significant increase in violence linked to the dispute between the criminal factions PCC (First Command of the Capital) and CV (Red Command) for control of drug trafficking routes. Between January and August of this year, the number of intentional homicides in the state rose 30% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 333 murders.
Bolivian authorities also attributed in recent months a wave of violence in the country to disputes involving the Brazilian factions. The war between the criminal organizations spread beyond Brazil's borders, affecting security in Bolivia.
