The German tennis player Alexander Zverev advanced to the US Open quarterfinals after defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (3) in two hours and 31 minutes of play.

Zverev dominated the first two sets with relative ease, taking a clear lead before a more balanced third set that was decided in the tie-break.

The German will now face Botic van de Zandschulp in a match that determines who advances to the semi-finals of the New York tournament.
