One third of Portuguese people have little trust in digital financial services

Jornal de Negócios8 September 2026 at 06:00

One third of Portuguese people have little trust in digital financial services, revealing significant distrust towards these technological platforms. This data shows that, despite the advancement of digitalization in the financial sector, a substantial part of the Portuguese population maintains reservations about the security and reliability of these tools.

Confidence levels vary considerably according to the age group of the respondents. As age increases, confidence levels in digital financial services decrease, suggesting that older generations tend to be more cautious or less familiar with these technologies. In contrast, people with higher education have higher confidence levels.

Regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the financial context, the percentage of confidence is higher than in digital services in general. This indicates that, paradoxically, Portuguese people are more willing to trust systems based on artificial intelligence than traditional digital financial services.
