The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine has restored electrical power, according to information released. The facility had faced problems with electricity supply, which raised concerns about the site's safety.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, a UN body, described the power restoration as "a crucial step" to avoid a nuclear accident. The agency issued a statement about the situation.
The Zaporizhzhia power plant is Europe's largest nuclear facility and has been a matter of international concern since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, due to the risks associated with the safety of its facilities.
