The Volunteer Firefighters of Alijó rescued a young person on the walkway of São Mamede de Ribatua. The alert was given through the Emergency Medical Dispatch Center (CODU) and the operation mobilized three vehicles and nine personnel.
This is not the first incident of this kind on the walkways, as a similar incident occurred in July. The fire department renewed the appeal for responsibility and caution for those visiting the walkways and other pedestrian trails.
Before starting a hike, the firefighters recommend planning the route with prior information about the length and difficulty, using appropriate footwear for uneven terrain and avoiding leaving marked trails. It is also advised to carry water, a mobile phone with a charged battery and sun protection.
The walkways of the São Mamede de Ribatua river were inaugurated in March, at a ceremony that featured the mayor of Alijó, the Secretary of State for the Environment and the director of the Vale do Tua Regional Natural Park. The infrastructure combines sections on an elevated platform with dirt footpaths, in an investment aimed at sustainable tourism and territorial development.
