Emblematic Tea Route in Porto Reborn as Madeiran Restaurant

Expresso7 September 2026 at 15:23

The Rota do Chá, an emblematic space dedicated to teas and infusions from various parts of the world, closed its doors in Porto after more than 20 years of activity. The journey that became a reference for tea lovers in the city has ended, giving way to a new restaurant concept.

In the same location, on Miguel Bombarda street, the restaurant Nova Rota Sublima was born, inspired by the flavors of the island of Madeira. The new space now seeks to offer customers a gastronomic experience linked to Madeiran tradition.

The restaurant serves typical specialties of Madeiran cuisine, including the traditional Bolo do caco and Espetadas on laurel branches. These dishes represent the characteristic gastronomy of the island, which now gains representation in the center of Porto.

In addition to food, Nova Rota Sublima is also home to artisanal Madeiran rum, thus completing the offering of regional products from the island that the restaurant aims to provide to its customers.
