Hotel rates in Miami are up to 33% cheaper in September, survey reveals

Nossa Gente7 September 2026 at 14:27

Miami offers nightly rates up to 33% cheaper in September, according to a survey by the Engine platform based on 3.9 million rates searched. The average nightly rate in that month is around $128, a value 33% lower than the annual average of $191. The difference is even more pronounced when compared to February, peak season month, when the average nightly rate reaches $267 — more than double the September price. The values represent the lowest rates available at the time of the searches.

The drop in prices is related to the period of lower tourist demand, high temperatures, and hurricane season in South Florida, which runs from June to November. Even so, prices may increase on holidays, special events, and busier weekends within September itself.

Comparing different booking platforms can generate additional savings, as the values for the same room and same dates vary between sites. Exclusive member rates, loyalty programs, cancellation policies, and payment conditions help explain these price differences.

Since 2025, hotels and booking platforms in the United States are required to display the total nightly rate, including mandatory fees such as the so-called resort fees, right from the first search. The recommendation is to compare the same room and the same conditions across different platforms, as well as to check the rate directly with the hotel, which sometimes offers better conditions than booking sites.
