Before her Rock in Rio debut, the Icelandic singer Laufey posted a photo of the album "Elis" (1972), by Elis Regina, and said she was "very excited" about her first show on Carioca soil. On her Story soundtrack, she used "Águas de março." The artist, currently 27 years old, is the youngest person to receive twice the Grammy for "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album." Her shows, which resemble concerts, blend bossa nova references with jazz and pop.
Before fame, Laufey tried her luck on musical competition shows in Iceland. At age 15, in 2014, she reached the final of Iceland's Got Talent, singing and playing piano, but did not place among the top three. The following year, she participated in The Voice of Iceland and advanced to the semifinal.
