Fernando Dias Nogueira, former president of ASF (formerly called ISP) and later of insurer Lusitania, filed a lawsuit against insurance companies Fidelidade and Tranquilidade. The proceedings aim to hold the two companies accountable that entered into settlements in the case known as the Insurance Cartel.
The insurance companies Fidelidade and Tranquilidade reached settlements in the Insurance Cartel case proceedings, which involved anti-competitive practices in the Portuguese insurance sector. Fernando Dias Nogueira decided to go to court to try to reverse or challenge these settlements reached by the two companies.
Fernando Dias Nogueira played a relevant role in the Portuguese insurance sector, having led both the Authority for Insurance Supervision and Pension Funds (ASF) and Lusitania. His decision to proceed with this lawsuit against the two insurers suggests that he considers the settlements unsatisfactory or harmful in some aspect.
