The 23rd Police Station (Méier) opened an investigation to look into the case of a 15-year-old teenager who jumped from a moving car in Engenho de Dentro, in Rio de Janeiro's North Zone. The episode occurred last Friday, shortly before 8pm, and was captured by security cameras. Police are investigating the suspicion that the young girl may have been the victim of a kidnapping attempt.
The footage shows the girl, who had just left school, walking along the sidewalk on Dona Romana Street with her backpack on. When she stopped beside a car with its windows covered by dark tinted film, the passenger side door opened and the teenager was pulled inside the vehicle, which then sped away.
In another segment of the video, it is possible to see the teenager jumping from the moving car. The girl was no longer wearing her backpack. After falling onto the asphalt, she gets up and picks up something that had fallen on the ground. The investigation continues to clarify the circumstances of the case.
