El Periódico Mediterráneo - General7 September 2026 at 12:53

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who is processing the case of Begoña Gómez, wife of the president of the Spanish Government Pedro Sánchez, summoned a preliminary hearing for this Tuesday. The trial will be at 6:00 PM. The judge issued a ruling on Monday authorizing the holding of this preliminary hearing prior to the opening of the trial.

Begoña Gómez faces charges for the crimes of embezzlement and influence peddling. The case will be tried before a jury court. This hearing marks the final step before a possible trial.

Judge Peinado had already prosecuted Pedro Sánchez's wife previously. Tomorrow's hearing represents the last procedural step before the decision on the opening of the trial.
