Dutch driver Loek Hartog abandoned his race during a China GT event in Shanghai on Saturday to rescue Ollie Millroy, whose Ferrari caught fire after a collision. Hartog was participating in the same race when he witnessed the accident involving the British driver.
Footage captured by Hartog's in-car camera shows the moment the Dutchman stopped his vehicle and approached the burning Ferrari. The driver managed to remove Millroy from the burning car before marshals arrived at the scene.
The incident occurred during a race in the China GT championship, held at the Shanghai circuit. Track marshals arrived at the scene after Hartog had already secured Millroy's safety.
Both drivers were involved in the same China GT race when the accident occurred. Hartog's gesture was widely noted, as the Dutch driver gave up his own race to prioritize the rival's safety.
