The Beira Baixa Line will reopen to circulation on September 20, restoring railway service on the section that had been interrupted. The line had been closed since February 2026 between Belver, in the municipality of Gavião, and Barca da Amieira, in Envendos-Mação.
During the interruption period, passengers were required to use road transfers as an alternative to railway transport. The reopening represents the end of months of inconvenience for users in the region.
The railway line that is resuming operations connects two localities belonging to different municipalities: Belver, in the territory of Gavião, and Barca da Amieira, which is part of the municipality of Envendos-Mação. The restoration of circulation allows the recovery of direct train service in this area of the district of Portalegre.
