Yemeni Army intensifies attacks against Houthi rebels

Correio da Manhã7 September 2026 at 09:14

The Yemeni armed forces intensified their attacks against the Houthi rebels, in a significant escalation of the conflict in the region. The bombings targeted various rebel positions, including strategically important military infrastructure.

Among the targets hit was a missile launch platform, which demonstrates the intention of government forces to weaken the Houthis' military capability. These attacks are part of a broader operation to contain the rebel advance in the country.

The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, have been targeted by coordinated military operations. The intensification of attacks occurs in a context of growing instability in the Middle East region.

The humanitarian situation in Yemen remains grave, with the civilian population suffering the consequences of the prolonged conflict between government forces supported by an international coalition and Houthi rebels supported by Iran.

Iran to announce new restricted zone in the Gulf and corridor at Ormuz

Iran will announce in the coming days a new restricted zone in the Persian Gulf, which will start from the point where the American blockade ends and will include sanctions for ships that enter it. In parallel, Tehran and Oman are finalizing maps for an international maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, which will be under Iranian management. The announcement comes amid an exchange of attacks between Tehran and the United States, with American forces having destroyed three Iranian oil tankers on Saturday, after attacks by the Revolutionary Guard against American warships. Traffic of goods through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to just 10 ships per day, the lowest level since May.

Capitol Invaders Demand Compensation and Sue the State

Several invaders of the United States Capitol are suing the federal government seeking compensation totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. The lawsuits are based on the argument that authorities created a "false narrative" by characterizing the events of January 6, 2021 as an insurrection. The defendants' lawyers claim their clients were induced to believe they could enter the building legitimately, and that security forces did not prevent them from entering, suggesting the visit was authorized.
