Cacique Cobra Coral Foundation responds to criticism for not preventing Rock in Rio rains: 'We work with emergencies'

The rain is expected to return to the Rock in Rio schedule on Monday, September 7th. Fans continue to ask the Cacique Cobra Coral Foundation to act, even if just for a few moments, during the festival to prevent the rains.

The Cacique Cobra Coral Foundation stated that it is not specifically working at the shows because its current focus is filling the water reservoirs in southeastern Brazil. A spokesperson told EXTRA that the entity has no specific agreements with Rock in Rio at this time.

The backlash divided the festival's fans. The Foundation explained that its work model involves agreements with governments, which are free partnerships as long as public administrations take on environmental commitments. There are also contracts with private institutions, as occurred with Rock in Rio itself in previous years.

According to the entity, it's not a matter of values, but of principles. The spokesperson stated that it doesn't make sense for the foundation to work for an event when there is a water and energy crisis affecting the Ministry of Mines and Energy, which has been a partner of the Foundation since 1986.

Why did Brazil remain unified while Spanish America divided into several countries?

Brazil remained as one country while Spanish America fragmented into multiple nations after independence, and this difference is explained by factors such as the centralization of Portuguese power in Brazil, the territorial structure based on Hereditary Captaincies that already created some cohesion, the presence of a unifying monarchy with the arrival of the royal family in Rio de Janeiro, greater linguistic and cultural homogeneity, and distinct historical processes between the Spanish colonies that involved civil wars and regional divisions since the beginning of the 19th century.
