The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, harshly criticized the Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez, stating that he is not up to the task of the situation either in Ceuta or in the Canary Islands. His statements come in an interview where he expressed a frankly critical position regarding the instability of Sánchez's executive.
Despite his critical position, Clavijo reached an agreement with the Government of Spain, specifically with the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, to jointly support with Catalonia the autonomic financing. This agreement contrasts with the rejection expressed by 13 autonomous communities, of which 11 are governed by the PP and two by the PSOE.
The Canary Islands leader considers that the situation the country is going through is marked by the instability of Sánchez's executive, which, according to him, compromises the capacity of the central government to respond to the challenges of the Spanish regions. This instability is one of the central points of his criticism of the Spanish government's management.
