David Furnish is a Canadian film producer and documentary filmmaker who has been Elton John's husband for over three decades. He met the singer in 1993 and has since become part of both the artist's personal and professional life. Furnish was one of the producers of "Rocketman", the biographical film about Elton released in 2019, and directed, alongside R.J. Cutler, the documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late".
The two made their relationship official in 2005, when civil unions between same-sex couples were recognized in England and Wales. The ceremony took place in Windsor, with family and friends in attendance. At the time, the couple had already been together for 12 years.
In 2014, after same-sex marriage was legalized in England and Wales, Elton and Furnish converted their civil union into a marriage, officially solidifying a relationship that had already lasted over two decades.
