Registered scammer deceives elderly people with kiss scheme

Correio da Manhã7 September 2026 at 01:30

A 31-year-old scammer was arrested by PSP for applying a scam scheme targeting elderly people. The method consisted of approaching the victims, greeting them with two kisses on the cheek and asking: "So you don't remember me?". This approach aimed to create a false sense of familiarity with elderly people.

After establishing contact, the criminal led the defenseless victims to an ATM, where he deceived them into making withdrawals or fraudulent transfers. The victims were chosen precisely because of their vulnerability and difficulty in recognizing scam schemes.

PSP managed to identify and locate the suspect, proceeding with his arrest. The scammer was brought to trial, where a judge decided to apply preventive detention as a precautionary measure.
