A man was stranded in a hard-to-access area of Serra das Banjas, in Paredes, after crashing a motorcycle. The accident occurred on Saturday, August 29, and the alert was given to the Lisbon Search and Rescue Center (RCC Lisboa).
Given the difficulty accessing the site, an AW119 Koala helicopter from Squadron 552 – "Zangões," which is permanently deployed at Air Base No. 8 in Ovar, was deployed. The rescue operation took about an hour.
The aircraft managed to reach the location where the man was quickly and removed the victim safely. After the rescue, the man was taken to receive medical assistance.
The helicopter intervention was considered decisive due to the difficult access to the area where the crash occurred.
