Algerian forward Hadj Moussa will not be joining Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia after a transfer that appeared to be practically closed collapsed. The Saudi club refused to proceed with a bank guarantee requested by Feyenoord of Rotterdam.
Hadj Moussa was a former target of Benfica, who had been monitoring the player for some time. The 26-year-old Algerian forward represented Feyenoord and had significant market value, which attracted interest from several clubs.
The deal with Al Ittihad had reached a very advanced stage, but negotiations ended without an agreement. The Saudi club's refusal to accept the bank guarantee demanded by Feyenoord was the decisive factor in the breakdown of talks.
With the transfer cancelled, Hadj Moussa remains at Feyenoord, at least for now. The player continues to train with the Dutch team while the next steps for his career remain unknown.
