The GNR and Maritime Police issued a joint statement excluding the possibility of a migrant landing in the Meco area. According to the police investigation work carried out, the authorities concluded that it is not possible to confirm the existence of any migrant landing in that area.

However, the authorities admit that the situation may be related to other criminal activities. The investigation points to possible links to drug trafficking and fuel smuggling, activities that are monitored in that coastal zone.
