The American actress Susan Sarandon revealed this Sunday that she continues losing roles in Hollywood due to her critical position regarding Israel and the war in Gaza. The "Thelma & Louise" star stated during the Venice Film Festival that she recently had roles taken from her again, because there are agencies that direct people not to hire her.
Sarandon had to leave her agency, UTA, in November 2023, after comments made at a pro-Palestine rally, which she later said she regretted. The actress participated in the press conference presenting the documentary "The Echo System" at the Italian festival.
The interpreter stated that there have been changes in public understanding of the situation, but that there are still very entrenched positions in her industry, defended by Zionists, who have not softened their opinions about her. "That is the power structure," she added.
Despite the professional difficulties, Sarandon stated that she is fine, counting on the support of her family and loved ones. Her testimony was received with applause during the press conference in Venice.
