A violent incident occurred on a commercial American Airlines flight departing from Dallas, Texas, United States, on Thursday (3). A 67-year-old passenger, from Arizona, began verbally and physically aggressing the crew and other passengers aboard the aircraft.
The situation began approximately two hours after takeoff of flight AA618 from Fort Worth Airport. Witnesses cited by the American television network CBS News stated that, "out of nowhere," the man grabbed the passenger seated next to him by the neck and began shouting insults.
Due to the individual's evident intoxication and aggressiveness, the situation escalated rapidly. A group of people on board restrained the man and tied him to a seat with zip ties and duct tape until the airplane landed.
