The collapse of a five-story building that housed a university hostel in New Delhi caused at least three deaths and left dozens of people trapped under the rubble. The incident occurred this Sunday, according to preliminary information.
At least three students lost their lives in the collapse, while five others are in critical condition. Authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of victims or the exact number of people who may be trapped in the rubble.
Rescue teams were mobilized to the site and are working to locate and rescue the victims. The cause of the building's collapse has not yet been determined by Indian authorities.
This type of accident is not uncommon in India, where poorly constructed buildings that do not comply with safety standards collapse frequently, especially in densely populated urban areas.
