Trump's envoy says conversations with Zelensky were 'meaningful,' one day after meeting with Putin to discuss the Ukraine war

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, special envoys of the United States, met this Sunday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev, in the first visit by Americans to Ukraine. The meeting took place one day after a three-hour encounter that the same envoys had with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Alongside Kushner, son-in-law of American President Donald Trump, Witkoff stated that the conversations with Zelensky were "significant" and that they would last for "as long as necessary." The businessman, close to the Republican, also said they had a "very significant, deep and important" discussion, expressing excitement about the progress of the negotiations.

After the meeting with Putin, Trump's envoys left Moscow without making concrete commitments about peace negotiations with the Ukrainians. Zelensky informed journalists that European security advisors would also participate in part of the meeting in Kiev.
